June 2019 - Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island was a fabulous place to explore and photograph. There is so much natural coastline with some stunning scenery. And the wildlife is bountiful. It was my first visit to Kangaroo Island in South Australia and I loved it. I hired a car and travelled many kilometers in the five days I was on KI, I would not hesitate to visit again. Here is a range of images from the various genres photographed on this trip.
Northern Italy 2018
I visited Venice in 1987 while on a group tour and only had a day in this magnificent city. It left a strong impression on me and revisiting was high on my bucket list. I put together a Northern Italian trip for six weeks in May/June 2018 and visited Venice, Verona, Florence, Bologna, Siena, Montepulciano (and a number of local villages in Tuscany), Cinque Terre (staying in Vernazza) and Milan. It was a magnificent trip shared with my sister and I was in my element photographing many aspects of the trip. Below are some of my favourite images from Venice. You will find images from Venice and other places visited in my gallery.
August - September 2016 - Africa
The trip of a lifetime, is how I would describe my first visit to Africa. It more than met my expectations, it was phenomenal and the best thing that I have done in my life. I would find it very difficult to surpass this wonderous experience. I visited Tanzania (including Zanzibar), South Africa, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
Seeing animals in the wild, in their natural habitat is the best part of a trip to Africa. To watch and photograph the animals and birds doing what they have always done is sublime. In Tanzania, there were no fences at all, the animals were free to roam and was the first place that I saw the animals in the wild.
I was in a very happy place photographing in this wonderful part of the world. Africa is a huge continent and I saw but a small part of it, what I saw though, was superb. I would highly recommend people visit Africa once in their lifetime, if at all possible.

September 2014 - North West Western Australia
We travelled from Perth to Karijini via the inland route, then across to Karratha and back to Perth via the coast road. The trip was wonderful and Helena was overjoyed at the many and varied opportunities to photograph. She was especially pleased the trip coincided with the wildflower season, having thought that our timing may have seen the flowers past their prime. Further, she was ecstatic to capture some of our maginificent birds.
August 2014 - Bali - Nature Photography
Whilst in Bali 1-10 August, Helena took the opportunity to use her macro lens and photographed some of the many and varied flowers at the villa where she stayed in Seminyak. Helena has a passion for nature photograhy and she shares some of her favourites.
May 2014 - Gallipoli Image
Kristel Photography is very honoured that this emotive image photographed by Helena Kristel at ANZAC Cove in Gallipoli, Turkey, was purchased by the Australian Federal Government in 2014 and was designated to be featured on the cover of the 2015 comprehensive media guide, the ANZAC Centenary year.
April - Welcome to Lewis. Little Lewis was born on 4 April, he is so cute and was very alert at the family's portrait session. Lewis was nearly 4 weeks old and his big brother Julius (nearly 3) happily showered him with kisses and whilst he was very energetic, he stopped long enough to have a couple of quick snaps with his baby brother. Their parents Janelle and Brad are very proud of their two gorgeous sons.
January 2014
A new year is upon us and here at Kristel Photography, we are looking forward to a busy and exciting year of photography. To start the year off, we have several families looking to update their family portraits. We also have summer specials for both corporate and maternity portraits. We are looking forward to meeting new clients and assisting our current clients.
Competition - Kristel Photography held their first competition to start the year off and there was a lot of interest and a number of entries. All those who entered had very good reasons for wanting to win the competition, however, one entry stood out from the rest. Rochelle Watson entered on behalf of her brother and his family. We are looking forward to meeting and photographing the winning family.

December 2013 - Congratulations to Vanessa Garden
Kristel Photography congratulates Vanessa Garden on publishing her first young adult book 'Captivate'. Vanessa is a local Perth girl and has been writing for about 11 years. Her perserverence and dedication has culminated in the publication of her first book.
Helena attended Vanessa's book launch on the evening of 18 December. The launch was held at Collins book store at Gateway Shopping Centre (where Vanessa works). The launch was a success, and the store sold out of 'Captivate'.
An article about Vanessa was published in Girlfriend magazine's December issue. This photo of Vanessa taken by Helena appeared along with the article. Kristel Photography is very pleased that Vanessa chose Helena as her photographer to take her portraits for use on the dust jackets of her books and for promotional purposes.
Vanessa has a second book due for release in March 2014. We wish Vanessa much success in her writing career and look forward to reading her books.

September - Corporate Portrait - locations
One's corporate image is very important, a great image creates a good first impression. Have you wanted to get your corporate portrait updated? Have you wondered where you would like to have your corporate portrait taken? Kristel Photography is based at their studio in Beeliar. Whilst the studio is fundamentally a natural light studio with its fantastic north facing aspect, studio lighting is also available for Corporate Portraits. Kristel Photography has a mobile lighting setup and can travel to businesses which is often requested. There is another alternative. Have you thought of having your corporate portait taken on location? Last week we did a corporate shoot in Fremantle, this provided various opportunities for different backdrops, such as the port, old buildings and the like.

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland shoot was so much fun for all involved. A collaboration with delightful and talented models, make up artists and hair stylists. Joint shoot with Mel Della from Della Photography.

Aaraleun Botanical Park

One of the loveliest venues in Perth for a location shoot is Araleun Botanical Park. The park is at its best in spring and autumn, and offers a variety of picturesque backdrops. Stunning floral displays, wooded areas and stone structures are the most popular backdrop choices.

Website live today
It took a few days and some follow up to get the website live. It is exciting to have created our own website and getting it out to family and friends. Thank you all for your wonderful support and very positive feedback.

Adventure in off camera flash
21 March
We enjoyed a group photo shoot in a Perth laneway. Using the colourful street art as backdrops and off camera flash we had fun with the creative lighting effects that resulted. A big thank you to those who brought their bikes along and also to our model Carol.
