Kristel Photography
Helena Kristel has been passionate about photography and capturing moments most of her life. She has developed her skills and unique style over time, and is an avid user of natural light. Helena photographs in colour, however, is drawn to the emotive richness of monotone (black & white and sepia tones) and prefers that medium. Kristel Photography images are available in both colour and monotone.
Food for her soul, is how Helena describes what photography means to her. She is happiest when she has a camera in her hand and photographing.
Helena has been a member of various camera clubs for more than 20 years and enjoys spending time with fellow photographers, sharing knowledge and ideas. She has attended many and varied workshops and continues to develop her photography and post production processing skills, keeping up to date with the latest trends.
Entering competitions is a way of extending herself, and Helena has entered several over the years. A number of her entries have won various prizes and she has also received several merit awards. Helena was the overall winner at the Mount Barker Wildflower Photographic Competition 2007. Following this win, she was invited to present at Light Fantastic in February 2008 which was a great success.
In 2014, the Australian Federal Government purchased one of Helena's images photographed at Gallipoli in 2011. Helena was thrilled that this image was purchased with the intention that it be used in the ANZAC Centenary year. More recently, Helena was runner up in the Animal Print Competition at the WAPF (West Australian Photographic Federation) Centenary celebrations in June 2017. She was a finalist in the 2017 FiPP (Fremantle International Portrait Prize) Competition and won a 2nd prize at the Mount Barker Wildflower and Nature Photographic Competition 2017.
Helena exhibited in the 2018 and 2020 SHOTS Photography Exhibitions, which were held in Fremantle.
Helena is based at her studio in Beeliar.
